jason 'give it to me' voorhees

The new Friday the 13th movie was just fantastic. Funny, gory, scary and gratuitous. Well done. Derek Mears had the perfect Jason stance and truly does justice to this icon of terror.

Bravo.

Luckily the theatre was kind enough to provide a movie poster for us to abuse again.

I can’t tell who’s enjoying it more...

happy friday the 13th!!

Ah yes. A wonderful day of celebration.

I’ve decided to write a new limerick rather than rehash my original Jason limerick like I’ve done before. I think this just might be a new tradition (magical sounds of new tradition forming, kerplink...wrghhhrrr...GUH) – oh! It is! It is a new tradition!

There once was killer named Voorhees
Who wanted to punish camp trampies,
She got rid of a lot,
Plus the ones who smoked pot,
Thus starting a spree oh so gory.

prime time

Man did I ever love the transformers movie. Mm mmm good. By the end I was sighing and wishing I had a bunch of transformers for friends. Then I could roll out with them and have adventures. I really dont know else to say about it except I KNEW IT they are real! As we were waiting in line (got there real early, geeks that we are. We met friends who are also geeks and wanted to be there early), we were discussing costume ideas we should have come dressed in. the crowd favorite was a cardboard box with Optimus Prime written on it in marker. At one point I nearly convinced Jeremy to beg a box from the nearby Starbucks (arent they all?) and surprise everyone. He did not, hilarious as it would have been. My control must be slipping.

On a sad note the family cat passed away Lilu Multipass, last feline inhabitant of the farm. He apparently ate something that didnt agree with him. Poor mite. Edgrr the dog is still acting like he is still around, as he lived to torment the cat. He may just need a new puppy to help him adjust. M
um, Dad - Something to think about.

Unfortunately the only picture I have on hand is this rather undignified one that we took after one of the many times KT shaved him artistically. He does not look like a happy kitty. Sorry peeps. You will be missed you persnickety beast you.

Update* My sister kindly sent me some luverly pics of peeps. She and her husband were the ones to get him originally, from the Humane Society in Guelph.

that kid is back on the escalator again!

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a huge fan of the movie Mallrats. In fact it’s in my top three. So when I heard about the escalator incident at Union Station my mind immediately made the connection.

What do you mean - what connection? Surely you remember Jason Lee’s passionate speech about escalator respect?

Now I understand that was not the case at Union Station, that there was in fact a malfunction that caused the escalator to enter “warp speed” in such a manner that may sound funny, but was actually serious and caused several spinal injuries.

You know what is funny though?

Jason Lee.

Especially
this speech.

T.S.: What? Do you know that kid or something?
Brodie: I hope his pants get caught and a bloodbath ensues!
T.S.: What is with you today?
Brodie: Don't get me wrong, I don't wish the kid harm, but his mother should suffer that horrific ordeal so she'll learn how to manage her child!
T.S.: That's sort of a harsh lesson, don't you think?
Brodie: Man, there's not a year goes by -- not a year-- that I don't read about some escalator accident involving some bastard kid that could've easily been avoided had some parent -- I don't care which one -- but some parent conditioned him to fear and respect that escalator!

In conclusion:
· Actual escalator accidents - not funny. Most of the time.
· Jason Lee saying things – funny.

movies and pubs

Jer kidnapped me to see Alien Vs. Predator on Friday. It actually wasn't bad. Sure there were some corny moments but the story was great and the action very entertaining. I would see it again. one aspect of the movie reminded me of a FABULOUS movie called Cube which had a sequel called Hypercube. These are two amazing movies which I highly recommend. In fact I'll bring them one Wednesday to the in-law's. After a disappointing meal at he flatiron on Friday I was hesitant to try a new pub Saturday afternoon, but Jer refused to bring me food and made me get presentable and venture into the world. He said 'you didn't move to Toronto to sit in your apartment.' I hate it when he's right. We went to the Duke of Gloucester. Wowee. Nothing on the menu topped 9.25 and they had deep fried mars bars. If you've never had this - do so now. Drop whatever you're doing and run out to the Duke to procure some. They also had 'Joe balls' which are basically mashed potato balls with sour cream. Can you say 'Clara'? They have this hidden rooftop patio that is nestled between buildings and everyone there had a Scottish or English accent. My only complaint is that they wouldn't let me substitute mashed potatoes for the french fries that came with my club sandwich. And they offer them with other dishes. Ah well. Jer ate his bowl of Irish stew and then proceeded to clean my plate , he also bussed our table himself so I think they love him there. It's also one block from my apartment so I'll be going back.

mallrats

Do I ever love this movie. I couldn't sleep last night so popped it in the VCR (yeah that's right I said VCR). Brodie is my favourite. I noticed awhile ago that the magic eye picture Ethan Suplee was trying to see the whole movie was NOT a sailboat! It was two lines of shapes. From left to right there was a cross, square, circle and diamond I believe. Don't quote me on that tho. This is just one more thing that proves I'm a geek. If I ever meet Kevin Smith I'm sure I'll even point it out to him.

Peterborough

So I just got home from my sister's in peterborough. We had a little get together there for the weekend. Just my sisters and parents and whatnot. Pretty much a lounge around and stuff your face weekend. Well that's not entirely true, we went to the zoo.....It's an ok little zoo but I was there with my 2 1/2 year old niece, so it was awesome. She's so funny it kills me. She is talking a mile a minute now (actual words, I mean it) so you can actually have a conversation. It was great. The highlight of the weekend occurred just a couple of hours ago and that was taking my niece to see her first movie in the theatre. We were unsure about it, will she run around like a maniac, will it be too loud, or worse yet.........there could be crying. She amazed us all, yet again, and was attentive, didn't leave her seat once (my sister Jenna's lap) and made cute comments throughout the movie. She loved it. It helps that the movie was hilarious and cute had my attention the whole time (except for occasional glances at my niece to see her reactions). This movie was a sequel and I have yet to see the first....... oh yes, I saw Shrek 2. I can't get over how much I loved it, I must see the first tho my fam says this one is much funnier. I'll honestly be thinking about it all night. Puss 'n' boots rocks. Seriously.
