neopets and bakula (clara's lucky day!)

Yesterday was a lucky day for me. While playing neopets, I won TWO jackpots!! The total winnings came to 125 000 neopoints. I’m thrilled. Tho I did have the fleeting thought that I wished it was real money I am ecstatic. I’ve been on neopets for ages and never really won anything.
Here are my neopets in case you were interested, in order of age (when I got them) – Shmargy, garglib and Himheneo (adopted). Aren’t they sweet?

I figured I was having a lucky day so I bought some scratch tickets. I won $4!! Sure it’s not much, you may scoff, but I don’t ever win things. Once I won a poinsettia sweater from a draw at the Royal bank in Ridgeway, Ontario. And I nearly cried with joy. Next stop – Global’s gonna call me and I’ll win 10 grand. I hope not today tho because I missed the codeword (Becca din). Unless some generous soul knows the word and feels like sharing? Hmmmm…?

p.s. Jeremy got the rest of his birthday present last night at Rebecca’s birthday dinner – THREE SEASONS OF QUANTUM LEAP!! Well I know what I’m doing this weekend…

she picked the average joe!

I’m thrilled she didn’t pick Rocky. Sure you could happily eat a quart of ice cream off his chest but the boy is vapid. Congratulations Anna, on not becoming the next girl he cheats on. Who knows if things will work out with Nathan but yay for giving the nice guy a chance. I was worried for a minute there tho. Honestly I think they purposefully pick women who haven’t had sex in awhile so they’re all riled up when the hunks get there.

Anyway I usually don’t comment on the multitude of reality shows I watch but I just had to share my joy in this. It’s right up there with Uchenna & Joyce winning the Amazing Race.

p.s. I get to go to the Old Spaghetti Factory tonight. Spumoni and garlic butter.....mmmm. Oh not together, what do you think this is? Some kind of freakshow?!?

Oh. Right.

the aftermath of bruce -or- how bruce brings people together

If you’ve read the comments from my magical Bruce moment post, you’ll know that Kosta has left some wonderful links for us to enjoy.

UnkleKo: deviantART now in my blogroll
twothirtyseven - now in my links section

I suggest checking them out……hmmm y’know when I was at Toronto Trek this year I decided that my next tattoo HAS to be some incredible anime woman. Y’know – big hair, big T&A, big attitude. Much like my ultimate
dreamgirl. Now that I’ve run into Kosta maybe I can wheedle a personalized drawing out of him. Veeeeerrryyy interestink.

Here are some samples of his art:

Bruce touched me - it was magical

Last night I became an active participant in the summer of love, waiting three hours in line to catch a glimpse of the mighty Bruce Campbell. I was NOT disappointed. Not only did I get a glimpse; I got a handshake, picture, chat and of course – autograph. As you can see in the pictures I was very excited. Seriously I nearly was crying and fainting like when people first saw the Beatles. Brucemania. He is just as handsome in person and so, well personable. He answered some questions before be started signing (best voice ever) and he was hilarious, just being himself - sarcastic, self-depreciating and clever. Anyway we got to chat for a few minutes (seconds really, but it felt like forever in Bruce’s presence) when he signed the books and they took our picture and it made the long wait worthwhile. This weekend I’m going to read my new, personalized copy of Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way. Aren’t you jealous.

Also I saw an old high school friend waiting in line there and he promised to come and check out the blog. Small world eh Kosta?

highlights & fake tattoos

Last week Jeremy highlighted my hair for me……he did such a good job he’s now my official highlighter.

Awhile ago when I was bored I decided to draw on Jeremy. He’s a sucker for any sort of back scratches, rubs, touching in general, so he was naturally game. I pulled out my sharpies and went to work (please note severe wife-beater tanlines). As you can see I am extremely talented in sharpie on back fake tattoos. Now there isn’t much competition in the area and I don’t know if it’s obvious I was running out of ideas by the end but still, that’s good stuff baby.

have YOU ever seen a cat chase a spider up a tree?

Saturday Jer and I went to brunch for Connie’s b-day, we met Maria just before everyone got there. It was great. We went to le petit dejeuner and I got a hungry gal breakfast and a cocktail (L.P Dellini – sparkling wine, peach schnapps and mango juice, try this one at home people). Afterwards the rest of the party moved on down to the beaches and Jer and I split to meet my parents. For those of you who don’t know, my parents own a chocolate store in Niagara Falls. Anyway the coffee machine broke and in the face of revolt from her workers, my mum entrusted Jeremy with the task of procuring a Starbucks machine (they have one at home and are in love, in fact my mum was thrilled when the crappy machine broke down and she had an excuse to get one for the chocolate store). So we met them to make the drop off. they came to my apartment and parked in the alley behind it. So we go out to meet them with the coffee machine and there are these two crazies sitting out there on lawn chairs. Jer and I walked by to get to my parents and one guy has a huge gash on his head and covers it saying ‘don’t look at me’. Don’t worry. So were chatting for a bit by the car and eventually this crazy walks over and feels like he has to explain his wound to us. Apparently a cat was chasing a spider up a tree and he had to get it down and it scratched him. Afterwards he ‘threw the cat away’. Alrighty. He left and we continued our impromptu visit. Five minutes later he comes back and tells us he wasn’t being honest and that he just got out of jail, then he mumbled something about his daughter and we decided the visit was over. We didn’t hug my parents and gran goodbye, as we normally would have, because I think we all subconsciously realized that this guy probably would have tried to get in there somehow. Anyway it was a weird encounter.

Wow I just got hardcore deja vous. Seriously.

Anyway that same guy ended up across the street from my apartment for the night, on the step of a shop that left him in view from my window. He proceeded to yell ‘fuck you’ at the top of his lungs for an hour straight (almost as if in tune with some haunting inner melody, which may very well have been the case) and he chased after a couple of teenagers who threw their water at him. Dude went off. I got to fall asleep to his cursing and ranting and the next day he was still there, tho passed out on the sidewalk.

Ah, the view from my window. A.K.A – bumwatch.

ah, tim hortons

Hayley (pseudo sister in-law) just came to my work to pick up a cheque and she brought me (a cup of) tea. So sweet of her. It’s the little things, like freebies, that really warm my heart.

the artistic vision of my niece

...at 3 years old, astounds me. Not only can she operate a digital camera with no help, she can create the masterpieces you see below (at three years old!). Sure you could call it dumb luck, but she's MY niece - so she's clearly a genius.

UPDATE* the child prodigy of which we speak is famous already - check out binsk's mention.

Update**FYI the cat's bum you see featured here (and showcased by binsk) belongs to the lovely and talented Lilu Multipass.

Update*** If Spock is Enough has continued the cat bum lovefest, check it out.

belated wedding bells

Because I never got around to it, here are some pics from my sister’s wedding. It was a daunting task, picking which to post, because some did not wish to be featured on a public blog. So it’s just a few, but I think you get the general idea – it was gorgeous, and I’m not just talking about the bride.

nigh.ca will shortly have has a new album (146 pics!) for those who can access it.

Some more pics everyone can see are in clarapics in the j&j wedding album.

toronto trek 19

Toronto Trek 19 was awesome. We just went for one day but I feel I got my moneys worth. Kt and her friend Tab came too, they had to leave early but they left with some great goodies. Weapons and motion activated Captain Jack Sparrows to be precise. I got a new addition for my toy collection, Sesshoumaru, and Jeremy got a great Hartigan figure. The headliner was Rene Auberjonois (Odo from Deep Space Nine). Usually one has a looong wait in line to get an autograph, but we were there maybe 5 minutes when Jeremy freaks out and drags me over to where Rene is just sitting at a table signing autographs for charity. We just walked right up and got ours. Took all of 30 seconds. Wicked. We heard him speak later and ( I had no idea he was the voice of Chef Louis from The little Mermaid) got to hear him sing the ‘les poissons’ song. Exciting. We stayed till 11pm, having watched the masquerade and attended a few panels. Next year hopefully we’ll stay for the entire weekend. Rumor is that there are BIG BIG guests already signed. Oooh think of the autographs. Next up Bruce Campbell on July 25 at Chapters. Sigh.

The rest of the pics are at clarapics in the tt19 album.

stinky city

Why does downtown stink so bad this morning? From just north of Wellesley to just north of College I could barely stand to breath through my nose. It wasn’t garbage smell tho. It was fecal and corpsey all rolled into one. I saw other people holding their noses so I know it wasn’t just me, in fact one guy came up and asked me if I smelled it too. I was thinking maybe all the pigeons up and died. Ah, downtown in this heat just makes everything nasty.

lets be friends

I have said, for YEARS, that people are too stingy with compliments. Well things are going to change – join the summer of complimenting and spread some love. How awesome do you feel when someone gives you a simple compliment? Very? That’s what I thought. Well it’s the easiest thing you can do to make others happy and make the world a little better. Even the laziest of bastards can say ‘I like your shirt’ or leave a nice comment on someone’s blog. So no excuses, feel the love and next time you think something nice about someone just open your mouth and say it out loud. Unless it’s really nice. Like X-rated nice. Then you might want to keep it to yourself. Tho maybe they’d go for it and then you’d literally be spreading the love. And by spreading I mean – you know what, I think I’ll just stop there.

Go. Now. Compliment!

i also like ‘ubiquitous’

Today I got one of those email things where you copy and paste and fill in all these answers about yourself. This one had a great question: what’s your favourite word? Of course I answered ubiety. This is a fabulous word. First of all it only appears in a handful of dictionaries and spell checker will probably think it’s a typo, so you’re ahead of most other average shlubs in seeming intelligent. Also the word form is nice. I like u and o words, it’s small and to the point and it has the b and y at opposing ends for balance. Truly a thing of beauty. Now on to the definition. You get variations but it’s pretty much the same:

Ø
ubiety n. state of being in a place; 'thereness'; position

Ø
u·bi·e·ty (yū-bī'ĭ-tē) n. The condition of being located in a particular place.

Ø ubiety n : the state of existing and being localized in space

I love that. The 'condition of being’. Well that’s something we all have in common, whether we like it or not.

claradassian

This is one of those days where the urge to pack up my desk and head outside. Sure it’s hot as heck but it’s dead in here and I can only pretend to look busy for so long. I wouldn’t even mind sitting in my sauna of an apartment if it meant laying about reading in the nude. And maybe watching Days. It’s the time of year when my brain tells me ‘school’s out for summer’ and yet I’m forced to head to work every morning, waiting desperately for the weekend. Ah well. Toronto Trek this Saturday Wahoo. We’re bringing my little sis and her friend. It’s right after payday so I’m going to buy myself something pretty. Something in Cardassian maybe.

Oh Gul Dukat, you’re so misunderstood.

weekend

I went strawberry picking for the first time ever on Sunday. It was the last day of the season so pickins were slim but we managed to get a decent amount. However berries had to pass Jeremy’s inspection and a few of my better berries fell before his disapproving eye. Jerk.

Oh I saw Fantastic Four and War of the Worlds on Saturday. I recommend them. Fantastic Four is fun, but they’re definitely setting up for a sequel and I really enjoyed War of the Worlds. If I had to describe it in one word it would be ‘chilling’. The most accurate depiction of what an alien invasion would actually be like. When we left the theatre it was so calm in the streets we were momentarily disconcerted. I must read it now.

Anyway that’s the weekend report – as for the usual din it was a double birthday celebration for David and Jeremy and I had Beef Wellington for the first time ever. I love it. But for the absence of mashed potatoes it was a perfect meal.

Bear with me, I’m still getting my bloglegs back after my absence. I didn’t think it would be so difficult. No pics for awhile as my computer is undergoing surgery. Ah well you’ll have to use your damn imaginations. Use it. Use it good.

PRIDE 05

I got so much more out of Pride this year, seeing as I actually left my apartment. Sure I have a great view from my window but no one can reach me with a water gun. Jer and I got right up next to the barrier. It was awesome, tho I didn’t get any freebies (Ikea was giving out huge umbrellas and Gillette was handing out cool razors).

Anyway here are some of my favourite sights from the parade, the rest are at
clarapics, in the PRIDE 05 album.

Wedding and home on the farm pics will be up tomorrow eventually.

Bruce in Toronto

Monday, July 25, 2005
Indigo Books at 6:00pm
55 Bloor Street West

Ok I already knew
Bruce was coming to Toronto for a book signing. What I didn’t know was that it is to be held at the Indigo in the Manulife Centre which is a 5 MINUTE WALK FROM MY APARTMENT! He’ll be so close to me…….
I can’t wait, I have an autographed copy of If Chins Could Kill, but I got it at an auction and never actually got to see him in person. That will soon change, and I will never be the same again. Oh Bruce.

ah, back in toronto - a bird pooped in my hair while walking to work this morning

via exploding dog

...and I know what you're thinking - wedding and pride pics please!!!

Well I have over 500 pics to sort through and I need to regroup from my vacation. I have a crapload of work to get sorted out and I don't want to skimp on these posts, they'll be big ones. Tonight I’m sitting down and reading through my camera's manual and getting better acquainted with it. Though I may let you down again, I’ve invited Hayley over to help me eat and drink a dent out of all the wedding food and alcohol I brought back, seeing as she's broke has fed me when I was the same. I just don't want you people to stop reading. I’ll be back to normal soon I promise. Well more tanned, but normal.

till death do us part...

...nobody told us about that.

Ah, congrats dear sister and new bro.
